The home education is the type of studying at home instead of traditional public or private schools. Many centuries ago all children were studying at home or in little communities. At that time very few pupils went to school. Usually such children were from the reach families and were considered to be more educated. 

Home education was the only one opportunity for majority of children to obtain the main basic knowledge. There were even special methodical books which were devoted to the foundations of the home schooling. One of the most popular books on this subject was “Helps To Education in the Homes of Our Country” by Warren Burton. Usually the main teachers for the children were their parents and adult members of the family. Besides, in the villages there were several teachers and they assisted the parents with the home schooling. In spite of the difficulties with the education, the US was one of the countries with very high level of education and literacy. 

In the 19th century there were many changes in the educational system of the US. In was connected with   the publication of some special educational laws. According to these laws the education which is guaranteed by the government, became the essential human right. 

But after the promulgation of these laws many conflicting opinion appeared. Some people confirmed that the school education influence in a bad way on the children. One of the most famous representatives of this opinion was the advocate Ray Moore. He made a research and proved that the formal education change in a bed way the mental and physical development of the children in the age between 8 and 12 years. He compared the children which are studying in school with the children from Africa, who were uneducated. In the result he found out that the African children were more socially and emotionally advanced. 

In the contemporary world some parents still hold this opinion and prefer to educate their children at home. Nowadays there are many methods established for home education, such as Waldorf method, Montessori method etc.
