Recently home schooling has gain popularity and more and more parents prefer it to a regular school. The thing is that schools tend to become more and more unstable. Children are always not under control and textbooks are old, violence is widespread, and the quality of education leaves much to be desired.
What ways out do parents have to solve this problem? At the beginning, private schools helped a lot, but after some time parents could hardly notice the difference between the schools. The problems were not solved.
The answer to the question actually always existed, but it wasn’t so popular. Home schooling seems to be a good idea to many parents, because its advantages are evident. Home schooled children who do not face the problems the children in regular schools face. The environment is safer, and kids learn without fear to be bullied by students or even aggressive or nasty teachers, because they are under the constant control of parents. Moreover, parents may build up a curriculum for their children. Home schooling also gives students a chance to study at their own pace. If, for example, a child has problems with multiplication and division, they can spend more time concentrating on this very topic and vice versa the skills that the child grasps easily, can be gone through faster.
Home schooling is also advantageous because it keeps children away from other students that may be corruptive forces. There are many students in school who do not value learning. This is not any fault of the schools; however, it is still a painful reality. These students can lead to the destruction of a stable learning environment. Home schooling keeps children focused on learning and not on avoiding social pressures.
It looks perfect from the first look, but as anywhere else there are many disadvantages concerning home schooling. One of the most evident minuses is that a home schooled child is less socialized. Though in schools students may see examples of poor social behaviors, still it is a place where children learn to interact with others and get experiences at building social skills.
Another disadvantage is that many parents are not qualified well enough to educate their children, so they fail to meet the requirements of the proper curriculum.
There are some advantages and disadvantages of this way of education. Before you start home schooling your child think properly about the way you are going to do it. If you doubt you can cope with it, do not take the responsibility to fully educate your child.
